World of Warcraft composer to head to Melbourne for new gaming event

Neal Acree will be coming to Melbourne in May as a part of High Score: Composition and Sound Art for Gaming.

The new event is dedicated to the art of creating music for games will take place in Melbourne on Saturday, May 20 at ACMI. High Score will see leading composers unpack their practices, techniques and styles in sessions aimed at educating and inspiring local music makers.

In his first Australian appearance, multi-award winning composer Neal Acree will discuss his impressive career creating music for game franchises including World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo III, StarCraft II and Revelation Online.

The LA-based composer and conductor’s credits also include over 30 feature films and television shows including Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Witchblade.

Joining Neal at High Score will be co-creator of #RESISTJAM and composer Maize Wallin; SMG Studio and Soap Creative founder Ashley Ringrose; screen composer and musician Jared Underwood; composer, games reviewer and music teacher Meghann O’Neill; and host of ABC ME’s Spawn Point Angharad 'Rad' Yeo, who will facilitate the day.

Where: The Cube, ACMI, Federation Square, Flinders St, Melbourne
Cost: $30 for APRA AMCOS members, $50 for non-members. Ticket price includes lunch.
