REPORT: What's left of GAME's retail operation?

With the 281 staff being let go last week, 264 of which were from retail stores, MCV took a look into just which stores are still open.

There are still 31 stores in operation throughout Australia, with 17 of those being in New South Wales (where the chain began). At its peak, GAME ran at 118 stores throughout the country, initially scaling back in 2010 to 92 stores when new management took over.

When The Games Wizards was ripe for sale as an independent retailer, and was initially bought out by The GAME Group, it was comprised of 22 stores nationally.

With the current number of operating stores now reflecting the last time it was a business fit for acquisition, here's hoping PwC have been successful in their strategic cuts to the extent that it can now find the company a buyer.
