Western Australia returns Classification Act amendment to committee

The state government of Western Australia has returned the proposed amendments to the Classification Act to a committee for further investigation.

The amendments principally introduce an R18+ rating to Australia.

This latest move in Western Australia will stall the passage of the amendment in that state. The amendments are due to take effect in other states on the 1st of January.

The committe is chaired by a panel of two Liberal MP’s, a Greens MP and a Labor MP. It is now receiving public submissions, and will report back to the state government on the 6th of November.
