VIDEO: Australian smartphone and tablet uptake videographic

An awesome and useful little video has just surfaced on YouTube, which lays out the current trends in Aussie new screen adoption.

Coming shortly after the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Media Outlook Report 2012-2016, the indicators are all strong that Australia is slated to be one of the fastest adopters of both new platforms in coming years, begging the question of what current media and entertainment companies are doing to prepare for the shift.

According to the video, over 90% of Australian mobile phones will be connected to the internet by 2015, and by 2016 half of us will own a tablet of some kind.

Of these connected devices, 81% will be connecting to the internet more than once a day, while 87% of them notice mobile advertising.
