Ubisoft CEO confirms they are abandoning PS3 and Xbox 360 from 2015

In an interview with GameInformer, Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot has stated that they will be moving away from last gen platforms from next year.

Within the interview, Guillemot explained that following the rapid move to developing for the next gen consoles, it has made the old machines unviable.

He went on to say that, “What we see is that this year is still fine for the PS3 and 360".

“But next year because they are selling very quickly, we’ll move to the new hardware. After 2015, it will be hard for us to create games for those systems.”

In excess of 15 million Xbox One and PS4 consoles have been shipped/sold in only 9 months, which has taken the industry at large by surprise. Despite this, that is only around 1/10th of the install base of the Xbox 360 and PS3.

So is Ubisoft making the right decision?
