Telltale Games' highly anticipated next series The Walking Dead will not be releasing in Australia and New Zealand due to 'rating laws'.

On the Telltale forums, a staff member responded to a question about the ANZ region with the following statement:

"Sorry, but due to the OFLC (sic) ratings laws in Australia and New Zealand, and the fact that this is a mature game, we do not currently have plans to release the game there on consoles."

While the statement only mentions consoles and not PC, presumably if the issue is to do with age rating concerns, this will affect all current and future platforms for the series.

Considering the 18+ rating which has been in place in New Zealand for decades, MCV has contacted Telltale to ask for clarification as to why NZ specifically is also not receiving the game, and will update the story when we hear more.

The Walking Dead is the hotly anticipated title based on the hit AMC TV show, and is slated to release very soon in the rest of the world.

Telltale Games has previously been responsible for making adventure game series' out of such popular franchises as Back to the Future, Monkey Island, Sam & Max and Jurassic Park.
