The Darkness II playable at the first 2012 Insert Coins

The first Insert Coin(s) event for 2012, to be hosted at the Oxford Art Factory on 19th January, will have The Darkness II playable ahead of release.

2K Games' sequel to the underrated grotesque and otherworldly crime thriller from 2007, with its new painted visual style and trademark morose storytelling (with the voice of Mike Patton not to go unacknowledged), will be playable across numerous screens on the night for the general public to get their hands on.

The last Insert Coin(s) had Assassin's Creed: Revelations as its headlining act, and continues its theme of blending classic gaming, pinball, gaming culture and art in the new year.

Pat Kolan, co-founder of Insert Coin(s), said: "After more than 700 people attended the last Insert Coin(s) night, we really had to raise the bar. The Darkness II was a natural choice for our event series - and I think it's gonna be a hit with gamers on the night."

As with previous events, Insert Coin(s) will charge punters AUD$10 for entry and will entertain as always with videogames, DJs, live art shows and more.

The Darkness II is set to release on 360, PS3 and PC in Australia and New Zealand on 10th February.
