SkyCity will build New Zealand's first purpose-built esports broadcasting studio.

The casino has acquired a 40% stake in Let's Play Live Media and will transform the former site of XO Bar as an esports broadcast studio this year.

Speaking of the partnership, Sonya Crosby, SkyCity's Chief Innovation Officer, said, "Globally, e-sports is growing at a rapid rate and has a large and diverse audience, young and old, male and female, and people from all walks of life. We're looking into the future and, as an entertainment technology company, we feel this is an exciting new area to explore."

The studio will produce 4K and HD streams and will additionally film hosted live events at the soon to be completed New Zealand International Convention Centre Theatre. SkyCity Chief Executive Graeme Stephens, also announced that the broadcasts will reach attendees in the casino concourse during the company's AGM.

The partnership will see the creation of family-friendly events within SkyCity properties across ANZ.
