Pokémon X and Y set new sales record for Nintendo

Nintendo says the combined sales of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were the highest ever opening weekend for a Nintendo release.

Sales for the two 3DS games combined exceeded 100,000 units across Australia and New Zealand on the weekend of October 12 launch, beating the record held by Pokémon Black and Pokémon White.

On its first day alone Pokémon X and Y beat the first week sales of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White of 80,000 units.

Nintendo added that they are working to rectify the out-of-stock situation some retailers have faced and are ensuring that additional stock will be available from this week.
