PAX Aus calls for indie dev exhibitors

The ANZ Indie Pavilion at PAX Aus 2014 is now open for applications from independent developers based in Australia and New Zealand.

Designed to showcase upcoming games from local indie developers, the Indie Pavilion hosts up to 36 different studios allowing the best locally made games to sit alongside the biggest titles from major publishers.

Successful applicants will be able to present their playable demo at their own individual stand with a custom banner highlighting the booth. Each stand costs $1200 - down from $1800 last year - and the only provisos are exhibitors must be a registered company in Australia or New Zealand, have no more than five full-time or contracted employees, and have at least one commercially released game.

"By presenting indie games not as a cheap industry to be pushed to the corner of the show, the Indie Pavilion showcases indies as exciting creative products that can stand proudly right next to the AAA exhibitors on the show floor," says Guy Blomberg, PAX Aus content and community manager.

"We work very closely with our indie exhibitors, and do our best to help promote them via our social media in the lead up to the show," he adds.

"We also provide them with a full list of all the media attending PAX Aus 2014, so they can reach out to them individually, and we organise walkthroughs of their area from prominent industry, government, and peers. And of course, there will be a significantly greater number of people attending PAX Aus this year too."

PAX Aus 2014 is held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 31 to November 2 this year. Indie devs interested in applying for the Indie Paviliion should contact PAX Aus account manager Ben Williams via
