US retailers see a boost in online sales as Switch releases
Data from analyst SimilarWeb shows that both GameStop and Toys R Us saw peaks in the traffic as the Switch launched on March 3. Large through traffic from Nintendo.com was also seen on Amazon and Toys R Us, and GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart and Target to a lesser extend. One of Sony’s experimental division is making a game for the HTC Vive
In a shock move, Sony’s Wow Factory, a set of projects from the company’s innovation labs, presented Gold Rush VR at SXSW. The title has been developed for the platform due to the limitations of PlayStation VR. Gold Rush VR is said to use backpack PCs paired with the VIVE. Roblox scores $92-million in funding
The company, which runs a user-generated online gaming platform aimed towards kids, has announced a massive funding round of $92-million, the majority of this came from Snapchat and Facebook investors, Meritech Capital Partners. "The opportunity to bring in additional top tier investors that share our vision is very exciting," said David Baszucki, CEO of Roblox. "We're already profitable, but the additional infusion of capital helps to strengthen our balance sheet so that we can accelerate building the most social, immersive and powerful imagination platform."
