Nintendo lets gamers touch the Wii U first at EBX

With our Microsoft and Sony EBX previews behind us, we take a closer look at one of the biggest drawcards: the Nintendo Wii U.

The Wii U's presence was only confirmed for the expo very recently, beind shrouded in doubt beforehand.

Doubtless the EB in-show Store will gather boundless pre-orders for the upcoming console, which will gain a head-start on the next generation and remain, at least for a short while, in the technological lead until the next Sony and Microsoft offerings.

At EBX, Nintendo will have Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, in Sydney to meet with fans, while showing the entire opening lineup for the console and giving punters their first hands-on.

There will be the two first-party big hitters on show in the form of Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros Wii U, as well as third party darling ZombiU from Ubisoft, but one of the other major games of interest will be Assassin's Creed III, likely to show off what the console is capable of next to its current-gen brethren in a stark and unapologetic light.

While Nintendo won't be on stage for the EB Live portion of the show, it's certain that Assassin's Creed III's major focus there will get people amped up to see what it can do on the new Nintendo platform.

Other games available to play on Wii U will include Rayman: Legends, Darksiders II, Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Just Dance 4 and Sing Party.
