New gaming consultancy company forms

Patrick Kolan and MCV's own Guy 'Yug' Blomberg have created 'PUG Consulting', a general-purpose consulting agency for gaming.

Kolan is a former IGN editor and creator of Insert Coin(s), while Blomberg, prior to working at MCV, created Australian Gamer (now Gameplanet Australia) and co-created the Mana Bar.

The agency aims to specialise in games and entertainment, and positions itself as a creative and media company which will utilise the pair's experience in the industry to provide 'connections, solutions and entertainment services', and will work to budgets of all scales and sizes.

It is in this capacity that Blomberg will retain an events role at MCV, with MCV operating as a client of PUG for the MCV Pacific Awards and other events.

Blomberg said: “I love this industry, everything about it, and after being involved in almost every sector and working with every type of gaming company, the idea of starting a business that offers specific solutions utilizing everything I’ve learnt is super exciting.”

Kolan added: “It’s an absolute thrill to be kickstarting something fresh for an industry we all know and love. The need for a company like this has been in the back of our minds for a while now and I believe there’s never been a better time than now to launch PUG. Come take our puppy for a walk!”
