New Aussie marketing company launches

Chris Wright, former marketing director of THQ's AU studios, has announced Surprise Attack, a new consulting agency providing full-time marketing support to indie developers.

The agency is commencing work today with a beta trial running on select campaigns free of charge through to Christmas this year.

The initial projects come from Melbourne developers The Voxel Agents, Pixel Elephant and Small Green Hill, plus Brisbane outfit Bane Games.

Founder Chris Wright said: “ As someone about to enter their fourth decade of gaming, I'm incredibly inspired by the current surge of independent development.”

With this new breed of developers, comes the need for a new breed of support services. Our job is to make their games a success and let the developers focus on making fantastic and fun experiences, secure in the knowledge their output will receive the marketing support it so deserves.”

Simon Joslin, creative director at The Voxel Agents, added: “ We continue to grow and learn as creative game developers, but we still don't know marketing. Chris will fill the void with research, strategy and product launch experience. It looks like a perfect match.”

Chris has executed over 100 marketing campaigns during his time at THQ, Microsoft, SEGA, Capcom, Disney Interactive Studios and many more. Developers can apply to be a part of the beta trial period at Surprise Attack's official web site.
