Minister for Home Affairs replaced

Minister for Home Affairs replaced

Brendan O'Connor, the most outspoken ministerial proponent of an R18+ classification for games, has been replaced in a cabinet reshuffle.

Mr O'Connor is now the Minister for Human Services and Minister for Assisting School Education, while his replacement is Jason Clare, previously the Minister for Defence Materials.

At this late stage in the R18+ classification saga, the change is unlikely to further delay its implementation, and the reshuffle itself has affected many more ministers than just the two in question.

Brendan O'Connor has been a major force in pushing the R18+ classification issue forwards, going so far as to declare that he'd look for alternatives if the SCAG were unable to reach a concensus earlier this year.

His efforts on the matter have been greatly appreciated.
