March round of Screen NSW game dev funding to go to January applicants

Screen New South Wales weren't kidding when they said they'd received a high number of quality applicants in January.

The web site was updated today to remove the tentative final round for the funding (the deadline for which was tomorrow), instead leaving a note to let people know that it was due to the large number of great submissions earlier in the year.

Screen NSW has confirmed to MCV that the funds are still being used, but will be given to additional January applicants instead.

Those games being funded have not yet been informed, so there may be pleasant surprises in store for New South Wales-based indie developers in the near future.

Meanwhile, Sydney-based developer Nnooo (Spirit Hunters, EscapeVektor: Chapter 1) has issued an open letter to Andrew Stoner MP to keep the fund going and has asked other developers to do the same, as it'll now have to be renewed before further rounds are announced.
