The first round of Australian and New Zealand Grand Theft Auto V reviews are in, and they're unanimously glowing.
"The few small black spots on the record can’t eclipse the fact that this is, like Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire before it, an experience as much as a game," said NZGamer's Hadyn Green in his 9.8/10 review.
"The standout factor for Grand Theft Auto V is that each character not only offers a unique perspective on the GTA world in which you’re taking part, but on gaming as a whole," said AusGamers editor Stephen Farrelly. "That not one of these guys is rising the criminal ranks to become a Scarface though, is most important -- we’ve simply stepped into their shoes with the world at our feet. And oh, what a world indeed." AusGamers awarded Grand Theft Auto V 9.8/10
Gameplanet editor James Cullinane was emphatic in his 10/10 review, stating, "Grand Theft Auto V is the last word on this generation of gaming. It is a triumph, one that demonstrates years of learning finally coming together in this single, near-perfect gaming experience."
