Kinect voice commands go live in Australia today

Microsoft announced that the Xbox update which will enable voice commands as well as TV App functionality is available today.

The new spread of customisable TV applications coming for Xbox in the coming months will be ABC iView, SBS ON DEMAND, YouTube, Daily Motion, Crackle, and various news and sports programs courtesy of Channel Nine.

David McLean, Director of the Consumer Channels Group at Microsoft Australia, said: "We are unique in the market and plan to stay that way. When Australians download the Xbox LIVE update, their Xbox 360 will feel completely new – it will feel like the Xbox was redesigned for a new era in entertainment."

The update will also allow those with Windows phones to download an app which will enable Xbox control via your mobile. Bing internet search functionality is also being added.

McLean continued: "We know that so many people have their phones with them in the living room while they watch TV and now Xbox gives them a way to search through Xbox marketplace without interrupting what’s on the screen."
