Kinect voice command and Zune Music Pass coming to Australia

Microsoft hosted an event in Sydney today to announce the Australian release of Kinect voice commands and the Zune Music Pass.

Kinect voice commands, which are already available in the US and UK, will be coming to Australia 'by mid-December'. David McLean, Director of the Consumer Channels Group at Microsoft Australia, took the stage to demonstrate the feature live, and discussed Microsoft's desire to embrace connectedness as a core focus for the brand for the forseeable future.

Voice commands are available as of tomorrow inside selected games including Kinect Sports Season Two. The mid-December release will be for menu and navigation control, including Xbox LIVE.

McLean said: "There is no question that voice control brings a new dimension to entertainment. People have been communicating with voice and gestures for thousands of years and now we are connecting people to their digital entertainment in much the same way."

The Zune Music Pass, which will launch in Australia on 16th November, is a subscription service to Zune's 11 million+ music tracks, which will make streaming the entire library available on Xbox 360, as well as PC and Windows Phone.

McLean continued: "Music is such an integral part of entertainment and we are thrilled to be bringing Zune Music Pass to Australia, enabling people to explore more than 11 million tracks at home or on the go."

The Zune Music Pass will be available for AUD$11.99 per month or AUD$119.90 per year.

MCV also had extensive conversations with McLean and the rest of the Microsoft team at the event, so stay tuned for in-depth interviews in the coming few days.
