Jetpack Joyride cleans up at the Pocket Gamer Awards

Over at GDC, an event for the Pocket Gamer Awards was held, with Aussie developer Halfbrick taking our several honours.

None came from its arguably most famous Fruit Ninja franchise, with the accolades instead coming from last year's arcade smash hit Jetpack Joyride.

The game took out the iPhone / iPod Touch Game of the Year and Best Action / Arcade awards, as well as the Overall Game of the Year, while Halfbrick itself received the Developer of the Year title.

Jetpack Joyride sees players assume the role of Barry Steakfries as he hurtles through an underground laboratory at an ever-increasing pace, jetpack strapped to his back and a raft of coins, vehicles, zappers and missiles to rampage through until he meets his inevitable demise.

The game was released for iOS last year.
