To celebrate the launch of its new, narratively-charged third-person shooter, Spec Ops: The Line, 2K Games invited journalists to Sydney's Ruby Rabbit on Tuesday.
There, press were able to play the full game and to interview Yager's Shawn Frison, lead designer on the ambitious game adaptation of Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now.
The event itself was themed as a final evening of Emirates-style decadence before - as the game tells it - Dubai is ruined by sandstorms.
Spec Ops: The Line is on shelves now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
