The Playstation Playground event at the beautiful Waterfront room of the Museum of Contemporary Art saw the new PS3 model revealed.
In an unveiling ceremony in which Michael Ephraim, MD of Sony, pulled the curtains off the new model on display, media were invited to play the cream of Playstation's upcoming lineup across all platforms.
Talks on the upcoming software and the brand story were given by Sony Marketing Manager Patrick Lagana and Senior Product Manager Kendall Bascetta, with the focus being on the similar key titles as Sony's presences at E3 and Gamescom, with Wonderbook of course getting its share of attention.
The event saw Sony keeping things light, with framework stands, balls to kick around on outdoor Astro-turf, and a bright view of Sydney Harbour.
Sony also attracted a few third party publishers to the event, with Disney Interactive, Warner Bros and Ubisoft present to showcase their upcoming major Playstation titles.
The event saw the announcement of local pricing for the new model Playstation 3, pricing and a release window for Wonderbook, NPD figures on hardware sales for the first half of 2012 and much more.
