The publishers, gamers and media were out in full force last Friday night to celebrate the year in gaming that was 2012.

IGN hired the National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour, Sydney for the event, split into two levels with the serious gaming downstairs and the serious drinking upstairs.

It was a night of high spirits and a lot of fervent discussion about the year ahead, surrounded by IGN readers gaming away.

Nintendo came to the party as the major gaming sponsor, planting several Wii U consoles downstairs and even showing off unreleased titles, making it one of the most visited parts of the show.

The IGN team was on hand MCing the event, capturing vox pops and hosting the awards themselves, while Cam Shea took up his usual role as DJ.
