IGN Australia launches Xbox Live App today

Word has just arrived that IGN Australia has dropped up a first-of-its-type with its own Xbox Live App.

The app, which is a localised version of its US counterpart which went live earlier this year, gives people access to IGN previews, reviews, guides and the IGN Pro League through their console dash.

James Whitehead, GM of IGN Australia, said: "Gamers across Australia have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the IGN app on Xbox LIVE and we’re excited to offer them the very best of our global video content with a local flavour – straight from their TV. IGN’s mission is to reach gamers wherever they are, across all platforms, services and devices.”

Kimberley Francis, Interactive Entertainment Lead at Microsoft, added: "We welcome the addition of IGN which offers targeted content to a dedicated audience on Xbox LIVE."

Other countries (presumably including New Zealand) are due later this year.
