James Whitehead, formerly of MTV and Ignite Media Brands, has taken on a new role as the head of Australia for IGN and AskMen.
Boasting over 15 years' experience in various roles as an executive within commercial media, Whitehead has previously held roles at MTV Networks and Warner Music, and joins IGN from his most recent position as Head of Digital Media for Ignite.
Whitehead said: "IGN is a fantastic entertainment brand that’s growing quickly in Australia, with leadership positions in both gaming and men’s lifestyle media."
"We have ambitious plans to continue building and developing our commercial and consumer offering in Australia, and I’m excited about leading a talented team that have already taken a regional outpost and transformed it into a globally respected cornerstone of IGN."
Whitehead will report directly to Ian Chambers, VP - International for IGN, and will be responsible for the commercial, editorial and event functions and will be based out of the IGN Sydney offices.
Chambers added: "With his considerable entertainment and media experience, James’ appointment underlines our ambition and commitment to take our brands to the next level in Australia."
IGN's network (which includes AskMen) saw 761'000 unique users in March (according to Neilsen). Whitehead is taking up the position following the departure of Narayan Pattison in February this year.
