Huge petition against Coalition govt's softer broadband plan

Change.org is hosting a petition which has only been running for three days, but has already accrued almost 150 thousand signatures.

It's a campaign to ask the incoming government to abandon its plans for laying fibre to nodes in favour of going straight to the home, much like the National Broadband Network currently aims to do.

Considering that it's not outside the realm of possibility that a government might change its position on something and that doubtless many people who voted for the Liberal party due to other concerns might still want the party to be in favour of more consistent high-speed broadband, it's not as frivolous a petition as it sounds.

The target for the petition is 250k signatures, which it looks on track to attain in its first week.

Those interested can sign the petition here.
