Halfbrick experiments with payment strategies

Jetpack Joyride is apparently a huge focus for experimenting with monetization strategies, according to CMO Phil Larsen.

In a recent discussion Larsen had with Gama Sutra, Larsen outlined the way the company was able to see sales of the title quadruple week on week with its new Wave Rider DLC.

Halfbrick announced that the DLC would become free to download after four days, but charged $4.99 to download it early.

The article doesn't go into specific figures, or any other supporting measures taken by Halfbrick to boost sales in that week, but it's an interesting proposition considering the game itself has ranged in price from 99c to free.
