Game Informer chasing the Next Big Critic for EB EXPO

After a successful first run at the EB EXPO 2011, Game Informer is running a second competition for budding journalists to cover the event in the magazine.

Chris Stead, Editor of Game Informer Australia, told MCV: "For the inaugural EB Games Expo, we held a competition over three issues whereby the best reader article of each month was selected for our Next Big Critic column (a regular section we run each month that's used to showcase talented writers in our community looking to step into games journalism)."

"Those three winners (pictured) were flown to the Gold Coast, put up for the weekend, given a VIP pass and $200 spending money. They were tasked with covering the expo, feeding information and opinion on their experiences back to other readers via our Facebook page, and ultimately providing a review for the magazine proper."

"Since then one of those winners has gone on to become a regular paid contributor for the magazine, another has supplied multiple artworks for stories and the third returned to Uni to finish his degree. This year, for the Sydney show, we are doing it again. Our first winner is showcased in the issue out this week, with two golden tickets up for grabs in the coming two issues."

Game Informer costs $4.95 ($2.50 for subscribers) and is distributed via newsagents as well as EB Games stores. All the competition information as well as the first winning Next Big Critic can be found within.

The EB EXPO will take place from 5th-7th October at the Sydney Showground.
