Far Cry 4 takes open world shooting to the Himalayas

Ubisoft has announced the next Far Cry will launch on November 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

Far Cry 4 is set in the fictional area of Kyrat, a "breathtaking, perilous and wild region" situated in the Himalayan mountains, and promises to be "the most expansive and immersive Far Cry experience ever."

Development is lead by Ubisoft's Montreal studio and the game will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.

"Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans' expectations," says executive producer Dan Hay.

"Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months."

Ubisoft also notes an early pre-order offer will see pre-order customers receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition containing the "Hurk's Redemption" DLC missions.
