eSports: SMITE OPL Season 4 starts this weekend

Six of the best SMITE teams in the region will compete for a $10,000 prize pool.

The Hi-Rez Oceania Championships for 2016 garnered a lot of attention, with the final taking place over two days with 200 fans in the live audience and reaching over 400,000 people streamed online. The 2017 season starts this weekend, with six teams taking part for a piece of a $10,000 prize pool.

The six teams taking place in the tournament include 2016 champions LG Dire Wolves, Avant Garde, Legacy Esports, Team Noxide, Daddy Daycare and Pretty Boiz. As well as the $10,000 prize pool, the top team will be sent to the SMITE Masters LAN in Atlanta this April, with the total prize pool for that event coming to $120,000 USD. This is an unbelievable opportunity for Oceania teams to face international play, usually reserved for the end of the year.

The season kicks off this Saturday at 5 pm AEDT, with the matches being broadcast on Hi-Rez Studio's Twitch channel.
