The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) has announced exclusively to MCV that iFest will feature Trip Hawkins as the keynote speaker.
iFest is set to take place as a one-day festival in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, with speakers unique to each day, and is being put together by the AIE.
Today, AIE has confirmed that Trip Hawkins will be in attendance to speak at every one of the events, which are free to attend and are intended to support new and emerging developers, as well as people looking to take that first step in indie development.
Neil Boyd, coordinator of iFest, told MCV: "iFest is a great way to get students, indie developers, and people that who are passionate about game development to connect, talk and share."
"We're hoping to shine a light on some of those mysterious things which make all the difference between a game being a flash in the pan, and being viable and sustainable."
Speakers at this year's iFest include Uppercut Games, creators of Epoch. At last year's event, they were also speaking, but about the transition from 2K (they hadn't yet released Epoch) and now find themselves talking about how they found success on the App store.
The event schedule is as follows:
- Canberra, 1st July, Canberra Technology Park, 49 Phillip Ave, Watson
- Melbourne, 7th July, State Library of Victoria, Experimedia Room, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne
- Sydney, 8th July, Wentworth Park Grandstand, Wentworth Park Rd, Ultimo
Registration for this event is completely free, and can be done by checking out the iFest web site.
