EA will have a shooter for this holiday season, after all, with the announcement of a new Battlefield title.
Battlefield: Hardline departs from the military traditions of the series and instead centres on "the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals."
It is development at Visceral Games, best known for the Dead Space series and Dante's Inferno, and will release this spring.
Usual Battlefield developer DICE is, of course, still busy fixing all the problems that have plagued Battlefield 4 since launch.
No platforms were named in the announcement, but sister site MCV UK reports it will be on new and old-gen consoles as well as PC.
EA has said more details will be revealed at their E3 press conference on June 9.
