Capcom US SVP amongst those laid-off as publisher prepares for next-gen

Capcom’s US senior vice president is amongst those made redundant by the Japanese publisher as it realigns its business ahead of the next generation.

Christian Svensson announced his departure on Facebook.

“This departure is not a bad thing for me and it's happening mostly because I'd suggested it during the early planning for today's [reorganisation].”

“While I wish the company the best of luck, Capcom is going in a different direction and the need for people at my level, relative to other areas, is lacking.”

“Those who know me well, know that I've been ready to go for quite some time.

Capcom plans to “strengthen digital strategies”, put an end to “excessive outsourcing”, and “raise game quality by moving more game development in-house,” it has said previously.

As a result, the company’s net income is projected to more-than halve from ¥6.5 billion (AU$67 million) to just ¥2.9 billion (AU$30 million) in the 2014 financial year.
