Aussie Ubisoft initiative to 3D Print fan-made characters launches

Now here's a novel approach to inclusive and engaging community management...

Ubisoft Australia has decided to create a browser-based 3D character creation tool which allows people to build characters inspired by Ubisoft games, but instead of simply leaving it as something fans can take pictures of and share with their friends, it's going one step further.

Partnering with content studio Drifter and getting the site built by Heckler, the team plans to take one fan-made character per month, 3D Print it, get it hand-painted and sent out to its creator.

"For years, Ubisoft games have provided some of the most exciting game characters in the world," said Owen Hughes, Ubisoft Australia's Digital Marketing Manager. "This project gives our passionate fans the chance to show us their creations."

The site is already up for Aussie fans to start creating, and the competition will run for six months.

Now this is how you get a fan for life.
