By and large, local press are impressed with Company of Heroes 2, as the first round of reviews roll out.
"Company of Heroes 2 both respects and surpasses the impressive visual standards set by the preceding titles," says Nathan Lawrence, who gave the game 9.4/10 over at AusGamers.
"Relic have pulled no punches in delivering a fantastic RTS," adds Andrew Harrison, giving the game 9.5/10 at Stevivor. "I'd even go so far as to call it my pick for RTS of the year, and if it wasn't for the horrible cut scenes, I'd maybe even go as far as Game of the Year."
"It's a ruthless strategy game," says Gaetano Prestia, who doled out a 8.5/10 on MMGN. "Those not familiar with the first Company of Heroes will have a lot on their plate with this sequel."
Alex Walker, writing for Games.on.net, was less positive: "It’s fun, don’t get me wrong. But it’s also exactly the same as the original Company of Heroes, and that’s not for everyone."
Capsule Computers, meanwihle, was unequivocal in its praise, with Oli Delgaram-Nijad giving it 9.5/10 and saying: "Relic and Sega have quite possibly hit the nail on the head in terms of releasing a sequel that both pleases the existing fanbase and makes some minor improvements to draw new players in and reward die hard fans with a polished experience."
